About Artist
Nathaniel Goodnews (b. 2001) was born and raised in Kogi State, Nigeria. He studied Fine and Applied arts at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where his artistic philosophy, visual language and voice were born and have since evolved. Nathaniel’s works have been exhibited at the Plus 234 Artfair by Soto Gallery and Ecobank Lagos in 2025, the Lagos Easter art festival in 2025, the Artist Commune Exhibition in 2024 by One Art Gallery in Lagos, he also participated in the Limcaf Art Festival in 2023, the Igbolanding Exhibition in 2023 at the Obiora Udechukwu Gallery among many others. He also won the Obi of Onitsha art prize in the year 2024 at the University of Nigeria Nsukka. Nathaniel's paintings are ethereal storytelling told with the human feet as a poignant metaphor of life and motion. The element of the human feet in his works serves as a symbolic metaphor for self-agency, direction and rootedness. More than an element of the human body, the feet carry the power to choose direction, and to mark one's path. Nathaniel believes that the innate willpower required to navigate life lies in the proverbial feet, as the preternatural guide of any being, as rooted in his own personal philosophy.
